The Pole-Zero placer program is a convenient tool for the design of custom lowpass filter charaacteristics. Two main design options are available:
- Optimization of pole / zero placement to fit a set of tabular design objectives
- Manual graphical manipulation of pole/zero terms in which the impact on group delay and attenuation characteristics are displayed in real time.
The optimization aspect of the program was originally motivated by the excellent filter book by R.W. Daniels (Approximation Methods for Electronic Filter Design) whereas the graphical option is believed to be original.
